Supplies You Will Need

In order to properly pack your computer, you want to gather some supplies. Give yourself enough time to gather everything so that you will be able to pack your computer without delay.
  • Packing Tape: You want heavy-duty tape or strong tape that can hold the weight of the box without breaking. Make sure the tape is thick, which makes a stronger hold for the box.
  • Computer Box: It is recommended that you use the box you bought your computer in. If you are like most people, you probably threw it away the first day you had your computer. Your next option is to purchase a computer box from a moving company. It is important that you choose a computer box because it is designed to carry and ship it. You can also call a specialty box company and give them the measurements of your computer. You also want to see if you can get the Styrofoam inserts for added protection.
  • Back Up Device: This device will be used as a backup to your files. We will discuss your options in the next section of our blog, but we want to put it in the list so you can remember to put it on your PC moving checklist.
  • Packing Materials: If you are unable to get Styrofoam for your computer box, you can use a combination of bubble wrap and packing paper (or newspaper) to protect your computer in the box.
  • Permanent Marker: If you have children, you may have thrown all of the permanent markers out in an attempt to keep your walls and furniture marker-free. Try to sneak one back in or use one of your child's thick dark markers to write on your computer box. Do you have any funny stories about permanent markers?
