How to Re-Engage in Your Interests After a Move

The effects of moving can be farther reaching than you might realize. Not only are you uprooting yourself and family from home, neighborhood, schools, family, friends and work but also the clubs and special interest groups of which you and they were a part.

Thank goodness for online access and the wealth of information that is available at the click of a key! Regardless of your interest or hobby, there are bound to be chapters or groups meeting not too far from where you've moved.

The Formula for Re-Engaging
When you have a love of something you generally find the time to do it. After the dust has settled once you're completely moved in and set up, it's time to get back to the activities that sustain you and give you your "you time." It's a well known fact that if you don't take care of yourself and your needs, it's difficult to be your best for others.

To re-engage is not as challenging as it is time consuming. Sometimes it takes a certain amount of research and effort to find the right club or venue for you to continue pursing your favorite pastimes. Depending on what the interest is, sit down at the computer or open your local telephone directory and begin investigating what is available. You may find that there are one or more organizations where you can continue your hobby, sport or special interest either in your area or a neighboring one. When you start calling potential places be sure to ask:
  • What are their hours of operation?
  • Where are they located and what is the best way to get there?
  • Do they offer a new member trial period and what are the yearly membership fees?
Setting Time Aside for You
Once you have established which club or meeting fits in with your schedule, put that time aside and do not let anything interfere with it. This is your special time to re-engage in the interest that sustains you and helps you deal with the rest of your week. Getting involved in a new club also helps you meet others with your interests and may set you on the path to finding a new group of friends after a move.

As challenging as moving can be, finding a new circle of friends doesn't have to be. MBM Moving Systems reviews not only help you with your move but can assist in finding new associations and clubs once you move in!
